Antique Victorian Doulton & Slaters Ewer

Fine late 19th Century English Victorian antique Doulton & Slaters Ewer of classical form, the body decorated with an attractive design of floral inspiration. Art Director at Doulton from 1887 until his death, John Slater {1844-1914}, pioneered the decorative technique of impressing lace fabrics onto the surface of the clay, which practice was subsequently registered as Doulton & Slaters Patent. The base of this piece impressed with the Royal Doulton mark of the period, Doulton & SlaterS Patent, 5237, cn, Bbg, all this plus a further small illegible impressed mark and a black painted faux astrological sign.
